International Center

Mississippi College is a total University founded in 1826, and offers studies at the Undergraduate and Graduate level, including a School of Law. International students from all areas of the world are invited to expand their global education through studies at Mississippi College.

The American students, faculty and staff are friendly, courteous and eager to meet you. The campus is located in Clinton, Mississippi, a quiet, peaceful and safe community only minutes from the state capitol of Jackson. At Mississippi College you will be able to study in a very safe and comfortable environment surrounded by natural beauty and a modern campus.

The International Center was founded in 2003, to serve as a "Home Away from Home" for all international students at Mississippi College. The Center is located one block north of the main campus and consists of offices of the Executive Director of International Programs, the Administrator, and the International Student Activities Coordinator, a living room where you are invited to drop in and watch TV or movies, and a fully stocked kitchen which is available for your use in preparing dishes from your home country. The International Center is always open to students to meet their needs, to plan exciting and entertaining trips, and to help with the adjustments to life on a US college campus. The success of each student is the primary goal of the International Center.

The International Center staff is available to assist each student with:
  • Academic issues
  • Immigration issues
  • International insurance
  • Medical issues
  • International orientation programs
  • The International Student Association
  • Activities on campus and in the community
  • Involvement in all areas of campus life
  • Adjustment to life in the United States
  • Obtaining a driver's license
  • Obtaining a Social Security number
  • Opening a bank account

The International Center stands ready to serve the international student and prepare each student for success in the classroom and beyond. The International Center staff is ready to welcome you to Mississippi College and make your educational experience truly memorable.

International Student Scholarship:

This scholarship is available for international students who are classified as sophomores, juniors, or seniors in their academic program at Mississippi College. Students may apply through the International Center only, and awards are given based on evaluation of GPA, involvement and leadership activities, and a short personal essay. Evaluation will be made by the International Student Scholarship Committee.

Application Instructions: The applicant must complete the application form completely and honestly. Examples of involvement and leadership activities are as follows:

Involvement includes but is not limited to:

  • Performances on and off campus
  • Being a member of an on-campus academic club (such as Beta Beta Beta)
  • Involvement with on-campus societies (such as Nenamoosha)
  • Writing published articles for on-campus newspaper or newsletter
  • Participating and performing in the International Festival
  • Participating in the Celebration of Culture
  • Study abroad
  • Participating in athletic competitions

Leadership includes but is not limited to:

  • Volunteering time for conversation partners, helping with International Center festivals and parties, helping the International Center with new students at the start of a new semester
  • Being an officer for an on-campus academic club (such as Beta Beta Beta)
  • Being a leader for an on-campus society (such as Nenamoosha)
  • Being on the Tribesman (yearbook) staff
  • Being on the Arrowhead (arts publication) staff
  • Being on the Collegian (on-campus newspaper) staff
  • Being a research assistant for a professor
  • Presenting research at a forum
  • Winning certificates of honor or prizes for accomplishments in academics, athletics, or extra-curricular accomplishments

Any other activities that the applicant feels should be included and could contribute to the evaluation of the application should be clearly listed
